Statement of Publication Ethics
Statement of Publication Ethics
TSBS Proceedings Journal adheres to international standards in research and publication ethics and has adopted the International Ethical Publishing Principles published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). Authors who submit their work to the journal must comply with the ethical principles prepared by this framework.
Co-authorship: The authors of the candidate article should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the presented work. The list of authors must be finalized before the submission of the article. It is unacceptable to include the names of those who did not contribute to the work (gift authorship) or to exclude those who made a contribution (ghost authorship).
Acknowledgment: Authors are required to acknowledge in the Acknowledgments section the institutions, financial sources, and other organizations supporting their submitted work.
Originality and Avoidance of Plagiarism: The submitted work must be entirely the authors' own. If other researchers' work is referenced within the article, it must be properly cited, and these works must be listed in the references. Submitted articles are checked for plagiarism using the plagiarism detection software, intihal.net.
Ethical Committee Approval: For research that requires data collection through surveys, scales, interviews, observations, etc., the candidate article must specify that ethical committee approval has been obtained. Evidence of ethical considerations during the data collection process (such as obtaining permission to use others' scales, surveys, photographs) must be presented within the work.
Resubmission of Published Work: Authors are expected to submit only original work that has not been previously published. It is unacceptable to submit the same work to another journal simultaneously.
Fragmentation: Authors should not divide the results of a study into separate parts and publish them multiple times in a way that undermines the integrity of the study, nor should these publications be presented as separate works in academic assignments or promotions.
Submission and Storage of Raw Data: Authors must provide raw data from their research when requested by editors or reviewers and must retain this data even after their articles are published.
Error Detection in Published Articles: If an author identifies a significant error or inaccuracy in a published article in the TSBS Proceedings Journal, they must immediately inform the journal editor and cooperate with the editor to withdraw or correct the article.
Research and Publication Ethics for Authors
- It is the author's responsibility to ensure that the submitted article contributes to the academic field.
- The work must be original and based on research.
- While plagiarism checks are conducted by the journal, the consequences of academic dishonesty, such as plagiarism, will entirely fall on the author.
- The article must not be sent to different journals simultaneously and should not have been submitted to another journal.
- The authors should ensure that all listed authors have contributed to the research. It is against academic ethics to list individuals who have not contributed or to arrange author names based on non-scientific criteria such as title, age, or gender.
- It is assumed that authors submitting articles to the journal have read and accepted the journal's publication and writing policies.
- Citations and references should be complete.
- For studies requiring ethical committee approval, the relevant permissions must be obtained, and this information must be included in the article. Research requiring ethical committee approval includes:
- Qualitative or quantitative studies involving surveys, interviews, focus group work, observations, experiments, and other data collection methods.
- Use of humans and animals (including materials/data) for experimental or scientific purposes.
- Clinical research involving humans.
- Research involving animals.
- Retrospective studies under the Personal Data Protection Law.
- For case reports, it should be noted that an “Informed Consent Form” has been obtained.
- Permission must be obtained and stated when using scales, surveys, photographs, etc., from others.
- It must be stated that copyright regulations are followed for the use of intellectual and artistic works.
Research and Publication Ethics for Reviewers
- Reviewers must act with awareness that they are the fundamental assessors of the academic quality of the articles to be published in the journal and should evaluate them with the responsibility of improving academic quality.
- Reviewers should only accept the review of articles for which they possess the necessary expertise, can comply with blind peer-review confidentiality, and can maintain confidentiality regarding article details.
- After the article review process, no information regarding the reviewed article should be shared with others.
- Reviewers should evaluate only the accuracy of the article's content and its compliance with academic criteria. The reviewer’s own opinions should not influence the review process.
- Reviewer reports should be objective and balanced. Offensive, belittling, or accusatory language must be avoided.
- Reviewers should avoid vague and superficial statements in evaluation reports. In the case of negative reviews, the deficiencies or faults leading to the negative result should be clearly stated.
- Reviewers should evaluate articles within the time frame assigned. If they are unable to review, they should notify the journal within a reasonable time.
Research and Publication Ethics for Editors
- Editors should accept articles for review that contribute to the relevant areas specified in the journal's policy.
- Editors should not have any conflicts of interest with the articles they accept or reject.
- Editors have full responsibility and authority to accept or reject an article.
- The confidentiality of both reviewers' and authors' identities must be maintained by the editors.
- Editors must make the necessary effort to check submitted articles for plagiarism and prevent academic dishonesty.
- It is the editor’s duty to ensure that the pre-screening, peer review, editing, and publication processes of submitted articles are completed in a timely and proper manner.
- Editors should prioritize academic concerns and criteria when accepting articles for publication.
